Quad Cities, IA/IL – Scattered thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected to impact the Quad Cities region and surrounding areas in eastern Iowa and western Illinois through Monday, prompting weather alerts for hazardous conditions.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, isolated thunderstorms may develop after midnight Saturday, with some storms potentially producing small hail. Rainfall and storm activity are expected to increase in coverage by Sunday morning, bringing breezy conditions with wind gusts reaching up to 40 mph.
Sunday’s temperatures will range from 52°F to 62°F during the day, dropping to between 27°F and 35°F overnight. After rainfall ends Sunday afternoon, strong winds and dry conditions may elevate fire danger, particularly in open fields and rural areas.
On Monday, conditions remain unstable with highs between 48°F and 58°F, and overnight lows from 28°F to 38°F. The National Weather Service warns that elevated fire danger will persist through Monday afternoon due to continued gusty winds and low humidity.
Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, avoid burning debris, and monitor local weather updates. Drivers should remain alert for slick roads overnight and reduced visibility during gusty winds.
