Green Bay, WI – A significant winter storm is expected to impact northeast Wisconsin starting late Sunday afternoon, with snowfall totals reaching up to 10 inches in some areas.
According to the US National Weather Service Green Bay, a mix of rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow will develop overnight Saturday into Sunday, with the heaviest snow expected Sunday evening through early Monday morning. Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect across the region, including Green Bay, Rhinelander, and Iron Mountain, valid from 4 a.m. Sunday until 7 a.m. Monday.
The highest snow totals are expected in northeast Wisconsin, where 5 to 10 inches are forecast. Areas further south, including Wausau and Oshkosh, may see less accumulation due to a greater mix of rain and sleet. Roads are expected to become snow-covered and slippery, creating hazardous travel conditions throughout Sunday and into Monday morning.
The weather service warns of potential sporadic power outages, particularly in zones where wet, heavy snow may accumulate on power lines. Residents are urged to limit travel and prepare emergency kits with flashlights, warm clothing, and backup power sources.
