Colorado Springs, Colo. – Thunderstorms, gusty winds and the threat of lightning could impact parts of central and southern Colorado each afternoon through Saturday, with conditions especially active across higher elevations and adjacent foothills.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, a broad hazardous weather outlook has been issued for areas above 7,500 feet including the Mosquito Range, Sangre de Cristo Mountains, San Juan Mountains, and the Wet Mountains. Showers and storms are expected to form each afternoon and evening, with the greatest hazards being small hail, strong outflow winds, and frequent lightning.

Communities such as Leadville, Alamosa, and Cañon City may see isolated thunderstorm activity by Monday afternoon, while areas near Colorado Springs could experience slightly stronger storms Tuesday through Thursday. Conditions may also impact Monument Ridge, Teller County, and stretches of I-25, especially during peak evening hours.

Residents are advised to stay weather-aware, avoid open fields and ridgelines during storms, and secure outdoor items that could be affected by wind gusts. No severe weather is expected overnight Sunday, but activity ramps up early in the week.

Storm chances persist daily through Saturday, with updates likely as conditions evolve.
