Shreveport, LA – The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued Tornado Watch #624 in effect until 9 p.m. CDT Saturday for portions of east Texas, southern Arkansas, northwest Louisiana, and southeast Oklahoma as a strong line of storms tracks through the Ark-La-Tex region.

According to the NWS, the watch includes 21 counties in Texas, 8 counties in Arkansas, 9 parishes in Louisiana, and McCurtain County in Oklahoma. Communities under the alert include Shreveport–LA, Texarkana–AR, Nacogdoches–TX, Hope–AR, and Minden–LA.

Forecasters say conditions are favorable for tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds up to 70 mph as a cold front advances eastward this evening. Storms are expected to strengthen through late afternoon and continue into the evening hours.

Residents across the region are urged to monitor local alerts, prepare to seek shelter quickly, and stay tuned to weather radio or trusted local sources for updates. A Tornado Watch means conditions are right for tornado formation, though none have yet been confirmed.

The watch remains active until 9 p.m. CDT, spanning counties in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.
