Woodridge, IL – Residents across Woodridge and DuPage County were urged Monday to review their account security after CodeRED, the emergency notification platform used by the Village of Woodridge, confirmed a cybersecurity breach that forced the company to permanently shut down its legacy system.

According to the Woodridge Police Department, CodeRED detected a cyber incident affecting its older infrastructure and made the decision to decommission the entire platform. Officials emphasized that this issue originated with CodeRED—not the Village of Woodridge—and impacts users who previously signed up for alerts through the notification service.

The company reported that there is currently no indication that stolen information has been leaked online. However, the compromised database may include sensitive contact information such as names, home addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, and passwords that users created for their CodeRED profiles.

Police advised residents to immediately update any accounts where the same password may have been reused. “If you reused your CodeRED password on other accounts, please update those passwords,” officials said in the announcement.

CodeRED has since moved operations to a new platform and is working to restore full functionality using backup data. Users with questions were directed to contact the company directly at crsupport@crisis24.com.

Local officials reiterated that emergency communication services for Woodridge remain active and that the breach is isolated to the CodeRED infrastructure.

Residents who rely on CodeRED for weather alerts, community notices, and emergency messaging are expected to receive further communication from the company as systems are restored.
