DuPage County, Ill. — Adrian Pleban, 18, of Hanover Park was charged with reckless homicide for crashing his car into another vehicle and killing the female driver. After appearing in First Appearance Court yesterday, Pleban was charged with two counts of Reckless Homicide, a Class 3 Felony, and two counts of Aggravated Reckless Driving Causing Great Bodily Harm, a Class 4 Felony.

On November 1 at approximately 10:36 p.m., Pleban was allegedly driving southbound on Gary Avenue more than 35 miles per hour over the posted 45 mph speed limit. It was alleged that while failing to reduce speed and keep a proper lookout, Pleban crashed his 2013 BMW 3281 into a 2022 Ford Bronco. The driver of the Bronco sustained serious injuries that led to her death. The passenger of the vehicle allegedly sustained significant fractures and contusions among other injuries.

On June 20, Judge Anthony Coco issued an arrest warrant for Pleban, and Pleban turned himself in on June 25. He was released following his court appearance. Pleban is prohibited from operating a motor vehicle as a condition of his release. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 21.

“I can’t begin to imagine the pain and suffering they have endured resulting from this senseless tragedy,” DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said. “With the Fourth of July holiday one week away, I urge everyone to please drive responsibly and obey the rules of the road, especially the posted speed limit.”
