Duluth, Minn. – Drivers along the North Shore woke up to dense fog Saturday morning, but clearer skies and breezy east winds are expected through the day. Temperatures will climb into the upper 70s and near 80 across much of northern Minnesota, though communities closest to Lake Superior will remain noticeably cooler, staying in the 60s.
According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, patchy fog should lift by midmorning, giving way to partly cloudy skies. Inland cities like Hibbing, Ely, and International Falls are forecast to reach the mid to upper 70s, while towns such as Two Harbors and Grand Marais may not make it out of the 60s due to the lake breeze.
The stronger east winds, gusting between 15 and 25 mph, could make driving along exposed stretches of Highway 61 more challenging, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Boaters on Lake Superior should also use caution, as choppier waters are likely.
Conditions will remain mild through the weekend, but cooler lakeside air will continue to contrast with warmer inland temperatures.
