Dramatic Indiana Bank Incident: Chicago Man Arrested for Allegedly Forcing Ex-Girlfriend at Gunpoint to Withdraw Money

Chicago, IL – A woman’s attempt to seek help at a bank led to the arrest of Kristian Thomas, a 32-year-old Chicago man. 

The incident occurred on January 26, 2024, in East Chicago, Indiana. According to the East Chicago Police Department, Thomas allegedly forced his ex-girlfriend out of her home at gunpoint and drove her to First Merchant Bank, demanding she withdraw $1,200. Seizing an opportunity, the victim informed the bank staff of her predicament, prompting them to call the police.

Thomas fled the scene but was later apprehended by the police after a short foot chase. 

Thomas now faces multiple charges, including Criminal Confinement, Attempted Robbery, Intimidation, Residential Entry, and Resisting Law Enforcement.
