Dover, NH – A Tilton man has died following a crash in an active work zone on Route 16 in Dover Friday morning.

According to the New Hampshire State Police, the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on January 16, 2026, when troopers from Troop A and Troop G responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a worker inside the construction area.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2020 Ford Super Duty pickup truck driven by 35-year-old Ryan Prescott of Manchester struck a worker while reversing. First responders attempted life-saving measures on the victim, identified as Everett Martin, 65, of Tilton. However, police said Martin succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His family has been notified.

Troopers were assisted by the Dover Fire Department, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). One northbound lane of Route 16 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

Authorities say no charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to contact Trooper Philip Sheehy.
