Dodge City, KS – Southwest Kansas residents should brace for windy and warmer weather midweek, with gusty conditions and above-normal temperatures expected Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Dodge City, temperatures will climb into the upper 70s to low 80s by Wednesday afternoon before slightly cooling by Friday. Winds will strengthen throughout Wednesday, with gusts reaching 30 to 35 mph across areas including Dodge City, Garden City, Hays, and the Scott Lake region.

The strongest winds are forecast between noon and 6 p.m. Wednesday, persisting into Thursday afternoon. While no severe weather is currently expected, the NWS advises residents to secure loose outdoor items and remain cautious during travel, especially on east-west highways where crosswinds may be hazardous for high-profile vehicles.

Morning lows will remain mild in the mid-50s to low 60s, contributing to an overall warmer pattern before a potential cool-down late in the week.

Scattered early showers Tuesday will give way to mostly sunny skies midweek as a warm front moves across western Kansas, increasing both temperatures and wind speeds.

The National Weather Service encourages residents to stay updated on local forecasts as conditions may shift heading into the weekend.
