Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas – Scattered rain and a few thunderstorms are set to impact much of North Texas beginning Wednesday night, with pockets of stronger storms possible west of the Metroplex before a cooler air mass settles in for the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop Wednesday night and continue at times through Friday. While the overall severe weather risk remains low, a few stronger storms could produce small hail and gusty winds, especially across western North Texas near Graham, Cisco, and areas west of the I-35 corridor.
Rain chances Wednesday night range from 20 to 30 percent around Dallas–Fort Worth, increasing to 40 to 60 percent farther north toward Sherman and Paris. On Thursday, scattered showers persist with the highest coverage shifting east of DFW, while western areas gradually see reduced activity. By Friday, a cold front moves through, bringing another round of showers and storms mainly across Central and East Texas, including Waco, Killeen, and Palestine.
Travel impacts are expected to be minor, but brief heavy rain could create slick roads during overnight and morning commutes. Residents are urged to remain weather-aware, particularly in areas that see repeated rounds of rain.
Behind the front, much cooler air settles in for the weekend and early next week, with highs dropping into the 50s and morning lows falling into the 20s and 30s. The National Weather Service notes additional updates are possible as the timing of storms and the cold front becomes clearer.
