Dallas, TX – North and Central Texas are in for a chilly start to the week as well below-normal temperatures settle in through Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.
A few light showers are possible Monday—mainly across East Texas—but the primary concern will be the cold overnight temperatures. The coldest readings are expected Monday night into early Tuesday, when lows will dip to or below the freezing mark in many areas.
Forecast highs Monday will range from the low 40s in Sherman and Palestine to the mid-40s in Waco and Dallas/Fort Worth, with nighttime lows between 27–32°F across much of the region. Temperatures will slowly rebound midweek, climbing into the 50s and 60s by Wednesday as south winds return.
While this cold spell will be brief, officials advise residents to protect pets, plants, and exposed pipes, and to check on neighbors, especially those sensitive to cold. Drivers should also watch for patchy frost during early morning commutes.
Warmer, drier weather is expected to dominate the second half of the week, bringing a more typical late-fall pattern to North Texas.
