Fort Worth, Texas – Multiple rounds of heavy rain and strong thunderstorms will impact North and Central Texas through Wednesday night, raising the threat for flash flooding, especially near the Red River and across the DFW Metroplex.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a Flood Watch remains in effect through late Wednesday for areas including Gainesville and Paris, where 2.5 to 3 inches of rain are likely. The DFW area may see 1.5 to 2 inches, while Waco and Palestine can expect 1 to 1.5 inches. A moderate risk of excessive rainfall has been issued for counties near the Oklahoma border, with a slight risk across much of North Texas.
Storms today and Wednesday could bring large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes, particularly west and north of Dallas-Fort Worth. The threat will shift toward Central Texas on Thursday and Friday as a stationary front drifts south, triggering more rounds of severe storms from Athens to Waco.
Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roads and stay weather-aware, especially during commutes. Charge devices, monitor NOAA Weather Radio, and prepare for sudden road closures or school delays.
The flood threat and severe weather risk will continue through Friday, with additional alerts likely.
