Washington, D.C. – DeWALT has issued a significant recall on its 2024 Battery Push Walk-Behind Mowers and Battery Self-Propelled Walk-Behind Mowers due to a critical safety hazard. The recall affects approximately 46,200 units sold across the United States, with an additional 9,600 units sold in Canada.
The recall, announced on August 15, 2024, stems from a defect in the mowers’ handle support. If water infiltrates the handle support while the battery is installed, the mower may fail to shut off when the bail handle is released. Additionally, the mower could start without a key, creating a significant risk of laceration injuries for users.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), DeWALT is offering a free repair for the affected units. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled mowers and contact DeWALT for the repair.
For assistance, DeWALT can be reached at 800-990-6421 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. Further details are available on the company’s website, where customers can also find information on how to report unsafe products.
