The National Weather Service warns that untreated surfaces could become slick, particularly on bridges and overpasses.
According to the NWS, a wintry mix will begin overnight Monday, with freezing rain and drizzle expected early Tuesday morning. Wind chills will drop as low as 10°F, making for a cold and hazardous start to the day. The freezing rain risk is highest before noon, with icy patches lingering into the afternoon as temperatures struggle to rise above freezing.
Extended Forecast: Ice, Snow, and a Late-Week Warmup
Tuesday Night: The wintry mix will continue into the evening, transitioning into light drizzle or freezing drizzle before midnight. A low near 24°F will keep roads icy, with east-northeast winds at 8 mph.
Wednesday: Another round of freezing rain is likely in the morning, followed by light snow showers in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 70%, with minor ice accumulation possible. Highs will reach 33°F, with east winds at 6-9 mph.
Wednesday Night: A chance of freezing drizzle and sleet remains before 9 p.m., with mostly cloudy skies overnight. Lows will dip to 23°F, keeping conditions slick.
Thursday: The weather will improve as mostly sunny skies return. Highs will rise to 34°F, helping to melt some of the ice.
Friday: A mild end to the week with partly sunny skies and a high of 37°F. Roads should be clear, but lingering ice could still cause issues early in the morning.
Drivers should allow extra time for travel and stay updated on changing conditions.
