Denver, Colorado – Strong thunderstorms could rattle cities from Denver to Fort Morgan Thursday afternoon, with the potential for hail, damaging winds, and brief heavy downpours stretching across the I-25 corridor and northeastern plains.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, scattered storms are expected to develop after 1 p.m., mainly along and east of I-25. A few stronger cells could bring one-inch hail, 40 to 60 mph wind gusts, and intense rainfall in short bursts. The greatest risk zone includes Fort Collins, Greeley, Sterling, and Limon, where a marginal risk for severe weather remains in effect until late evening.

Drivers along I-70, Highway 85, and I-76 should stay alert for slick roads and sudden visibility drops. Outdoor plans may be disrupted, especially east of Denver where storm activity is likely to intensify during the evening commute. Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items and monitor local alerts.

This is the second round of strong storms this week, adding to above-average rainfall totals for early June across the eastern plains. While tornado chances remain low, hail and wind pose the primary threat.

More storm chances are expected into Friday, with updated outlooks coming this evening.
