Sioux Falls, SD – Dense fog continues to blanket portions of southwest Minnesota, east-central South Dakota, northwest Iowa, and northeast Nebraska, with visibility reduced to one quarter mile or less in some areas.
The National Weather Service issued a Dense Fog Advisory, which remains in effect until noon CST Thursday. Areas affected include cities such as Sioux Falls, Worthington, Brookings, and Spencer.
According to the advisory, while fog has briefly lifted in some regions, visibility is expected to deteriorate again during the pre-dawn hours. Drivers are advised to slow down, use headlights, and maintain extra distance between vehicles to ensure safety on the roadways.
The advisory highlights potential hazards for commuters, particularly in areas like Lincoln, Murray, and Nobles counties in Minnesota, and Minnehaha County in South Dakota, where visibility could be especially poor.
The fog is expected to gradually dissipate by midday as temperatures rise. Motorists should remain cautious and check local forecasts for updates.
