Chicago, IL – Dense fog is expected to blanket parts of northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin, and eastern Iowa Monday morning, potentially reducing visibility to a quarter mile or less.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), advisories are in effect until 7 a.m. CST in Illinois counties including Boone, DeKalb, Lee, Ogle, Winnebago, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Northern Cook. In Wisconsin, Green, Rock, Jefferson, Kenosha, Racine, Walworth, and Waukesha counties will remain under an advisory until 9 a.m. CST. Similarly, eastern Iowa counties including Carroll, Jo Daviess, Stephenson, and Whiteside are also under advisory until 9 a.m. CST.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution during their Monday morning commute, as dense fog may severely limit visibility, increasing the risk of accidents. The NWS recommends slowing down, using headlights, and maintaining a safe distance between vehicles.

Meteorologists suggest the fog will begin to dissipate as the morning progresses, but early travel is expected to remain challenging across the affected regions.
