Norman, OK – A Tornado Watch is in effect for portions of western and central Oklahoma and western North Texas until 10 a.m. CST Monday, as severe thunderstorms continue to push through the region.
The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center warns of the potential for a few tornadoes and damaging wind gusts of up to 75 mph. The affected area spans approximately 65 miles east and west of a line from 40 miles west-northwest of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to 20 miles south of Abilene, Texas.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant and monitor local weather alerts for updates. Aviation travel may also be affected, with extreme turbulence and strong surface winds forecast.
A Tornado Watch indicates that conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms. The NWS advises residents in the affected areas to be prepared to take action if a warning is issued.
