Quad Cities, IA-IL – Motorists in portions of Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri are urged to exercise caution as a dense fog advisory remains in effect for various regions until mid-morning Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in the Quad Cities, visibility in affected areas may be reduced to a quarter mile or less due to dense fog. The advisory, issued early Thursday morning, highlights hazardous driving conditions across west-central Illinois, southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri, as well as additional areas in northwest Illinois and east-central Iowa.

The fog is expected to linger until 9 a.m. CST in counties such as Henderson, Warren, and Hancock in Illinois and Lee and Van Buren in Iowa. In other areas, including Rock Island, Jo Daviess, and Dubuque Counties, the advisory extends until 11 a.m. CST.

Motorists are advised to slow down, use headlights, and maintain a safe distance between vehicles. Commuters should plan for additional travel time and remain vigilant until the fog dissipates.
