According to the Climate Prediction Center’s 6–10 Day Outlook issued July 30, Delaware is favored to experience above-normal temperatures along with above-normal precipitation throughout the outlook period. The climate signal points toward a warm, moisture-rich pattern capable of supporting scattered showers and thunderstorms on multiple days.
Wilmington and Dover are expected to experience temperatures above early August averages, while communities including Newark, Middletown, Milford, Seaford, Georgetown, and Rehoboth Beach could see scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Some storms may produce heavy downpours, frequent lightning, gusty winds, and localized flooding in low-lying or poor drainage areas. Travelers should be prepared for reduced visibility and ponding on stretches of Interstate 95, Delaware Route 1, U.S. Route 13, and U.S. Route 113 during heavier rainfall.
