Philadelphia, PA – The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Wind Advisory for much of New Jersey, Delaware, and eastern Pennsylvania, warning of gusts up to 55 mph through early Thursday morning.
The advisory covers Philadelphia, Trenton, Wilmington, Allentown, Reading, Atlantic City, and the Delaware Beaches, effective from 7 p.m. Wednesday until 7 a.m. Thursday.
Forecasters expect west to northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph, with stronger gusts between 50 and 55 mph across higher terrain and open areas, particularly in Carbon and Monroe counties of Pennsylvania.
The NWS cautions that these winds could down tree limbs, damage power lines, and cause scattered outages across the Delaware Valley. Driving may also be difficult for high-profile vehicles, especially on I-95, I-295, and the New Jersey Turnpike.
Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor objects, such as patio furniture and decorations, and to use caution when driving or walking near trees and power lines. Winds are expected to ease by Thursday morning, but breezy conditions will persist through midday.
