Dover, DE – A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Delaware and the Upper Eastern Shore of Maryland from Saturday morning through Saturday evening due to strong winds and low humidity.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, the affected areas include New Castle, Kent, Inland Sussex, Delaware Beaches, as well as Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot, and Caroline counties in Maryland. Winds are expected to reach 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph, while relative humidity could drop as low as 25%.

These conditions significantly increase the risk of wildfires, as any fire that starts could spread quickly. Residents are advised to avoid outdoor burning and take precautions to prevent accidental fires.

A Fire Weather Watch signals that critical fire conditions are possible. Authorities recommend monitoring local forecasts for updates and potential Red Flag Warnings. For wildfire prevention tips and burn restrictions, residents should check their state forestry or environmental protection websites.
