Delaware Bicyclist Killed in Dagsboro Crash on Dupont Boulevard

Dagsboro, DE – A 79-year-old bicyclist died Thursday evening after a crash with a Ford F-150 on Dupont Boulevard in Dagsboro. The collision occurred at approximately 6:14 p.m. when the bicyclist, traveling southbound on Dupont, attempted to cross the roadway near Cricket Street.

The driver of the Ford, a 46-year-old man from Frankford, was traveling south in the left lane when the bicyclist crossed into his path. The Ford struck the bicyclist, whom authorities say was unable to avoid the oncoming truck. Emergency responders pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene. Police are withholding his name until they notify family.

According to Delaware State Police, the Ford’s driver was uninjured in the incident. Police closed the roadway for approximately four hours to investigate and clear the scene. Authorities have urged any witnesses to contact Master Corporal R. Albert of Troop 7’s Collision Reconstruction Unit at 302-703-3266.
