Lexington, NC – A Davidson County homicide investigation has led to the arrest of a 20-year-old woman following the death of her father earlier this month.

According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 7:20 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, to Whispering Oak Drive in Lexington for a report of a woman suffering multiple stab wounds. When they arrived, they located Mailegha Allen, 20, who was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and transported to a local hospital.

Authorities say deputies then conducted a welfare check at a nearby home on Bryant Road, where they discovered 44-year-old Michael Allen deceased inside the residence. Officials identified him as the homeowner and the father of Mailegha Allen.

An autopsy completed Monday, April 20, determined that Michael Allen died from sharp force trauma, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide. Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office say evidence gathered during the investigation indicated the killing was premeditated.

On Tuesday, April 21, after being released from the hospital, Mailegha Allen was taken into custody. She has been charged with first-degree murder and placed in the Davidson County Detention Center without bond.

On Wednesday, April 22, Allen made her first court appearance. Her bond was denied, and her next court date is scheduled for May 12, 2026, in Lexington District Court.

Officials emphasized that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities say no additional details will be released at this time.
