Davenport, Iowa – Bitterly cold conditions will persist across the Quad Cities region through the end of the week, with morning wind chills in the single digits and teens below zero, before a gradual warming trend begins this weekend, according to the National Weather Service Quad Cities.

High temperatures on Friday are expected to remain in the low to mid-teens, with overnight lows dipping to near or below zero in some areas. Wind chills during the early morning hours may fall well below zero, especially in open and rural areas near major travel corridors such as Interstate 80, Interstate 74, and Interstate 280.

By Saturday, temperatures will begin a slow upward trend, though conditions will remain cold. Highs are forecast to reach the upper teens to lower 20s, with overnight lows rising into the single digits. Despite the moderation, cold-sensitive precautions will still be necessary during the overnight and early morning hours.

On Sunday, forecasters expect a noticeable improvement, with highs climbing into the mid to upper 20s. A chance of light snow is also possible Sunday as a weak system moves through the region. At this time, any snowfall appears light, but drivers along I-80 and I-74 should remain alert for brief reductions in visibility or slick spots.

Looking ahead to Monday, temperatures are expected to continue warming, reaching the upper 20s to lower 30s, bringing conditions closer to seasonal averages. This gradual warm-up will provide some relief after several days of prolonged cold.

While the trend is encouraging, officials caution that cold mornings will continue through the weekend, and residents should continue to dress in layers, limit prolonged outdoor exposure, and ensure pets and vulnerable populations are protected.
