Davenport, Iowa – Low chances for light snow are expected tonight across portions of the Quad Cities region as a weak clipper system moves through the Upper Midwest.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service Quad Cities office, cloud cover will increase this evening as the system passes north of the area. This will bring a 15% to 20% chance for light snow, primarily along and north of Interstate 80. Forecasters say any snowfall that does occur will result in very little to no accumulation.
Overnight low temperatures are expected to fall into the low teens to lower 20s, which could allow for isolated slick spots on untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses. However, widespread travel impacts are not anticipated.
Communities that could see brief snow showers include Davenport, Bettendorf, Clinton, Rock Island, Moline, and surrounding areas north of I-80. Motorists traveling on Interstate 80, Interstate 74, U.S. Highway 30, and nearby state highways should remain alert for changing conditions overnight, especially during lighter traffic periods when roads cool more quickly.
The Weather Service emphasized that this system is fast-moving and moisture-limited, keeping impacts minor. Visibility reductions are expected to be brief where snow showers occur.
Looking ahead, dry conditions are forecast to return for the remainder of the week as seasonal temperatures settle back into the region. Daytime highs are expected to climb into the 20s and 30s Tuesday and Wednesday, then into the 30s and 40s by Thursday and Friday.
For commuters, students, and early-morning workers, caution is advised late tonight into early Tuesday, particularly north of I-80. Slowing down on untreated roads can help reduce the risk of accidents, even with light snow.
Residents are encouraged to monitor official National Weather Service updates in case conditions change overnight.
