Davenport, IA – The City of Davenport Public Works Department has declared a Snow Emergency beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, through noon Sunday, Dec. 7, as forecasters call for more than five inches of snow across the Quad Cities area.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities, snowfall will develop late Saturday evening and continue into early Sunday morning, bringing moderate to heavy accumulation and hazardous travel conditions through the overnight hours.

City officials remind residents that vehicles parked on posted Snow Routes during the Snow Emergency are subject to ticketing and towing to allow plows to clear the streets effectively.

Public Works crews are on standby and prepared to begin plowing operations once snowfall begins. Drivers are urged to move vehicles off main routes, avoid unnecessary travel, and give plow operators extra room overnight and Sunday morning.
