Yreka, California – Communities along the California–Oregon border may see brief winter weather signals late next week, but overall confidence remains low for any widespread or high-impact snowfall as the pattern supports only limited snow chances.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, the border region between Northern California and Southern Oregon sits within a generally cool Pacific pattern from Saturday through the following Friday. While weak systems may move inland, cold air and moisture are not expected to align strongly enough for significant snow outside of higher terrain.

In far northern California, including Yreka and Siskiyou County, overnight and early morning temperatures could briefly support light snow or flurries. Any accumulation would likely be minor, though brief slick spots could develop along Interstate 5 and Highway 97 during colder periods.

Across southern Oregon, including Medford and the Rogue Valley, temperatures appear marginal for snow, with rain favored at lower elevations. Farther east near Klamath Falls, colder air may allow occasional light snow, but impacts are expected to remain limited without a stronger storm system.

Caltrans and Oregon Department of Transportation officials advise drivers to remain weather-aware when traveling through mountain passes such as Siskiyou Summit, where even light snow can affect travel. While significant winter weather is not anticipated, updates may follow if colder air or storm strength increases later next week.
