Danville District 118 Schools on Alert After Online Threat Investigation

Danville, IL – A social media threat targeting Danville School District 118 prompted authorities to investigate on Wednesday, causing students to stay home for an E-learning day.

Danville Police Department and school officials responded after learning about a potential school threat circulating online. Detectives traced the threat’s origin to the Chicago area. They believe the person responsible is not in Danville and does not pose an immediate danger.

According to a statement from the Danville Police Department, a threat assessment concluded that the risk indicators are low and noncredible. Investigators have found no valid or direct threats to the safety of students.

The police department and District 118 plan to continue investigating while taking precautions to ensure student safety. Authorities will work with local partners to address concerns and reduce fear within the community.
