Jacksonville, FL – Residents of Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia are urged to take precautions as a heat advisory is in effect for Saturday, with dangerous heat indices predicted to reach between 105 and 112 degrees. The advisory covers a large portion of Northeast Florida, including Jacksonville, where temperatures are expected to peak in the low to mid-90s.

According to the National Weather Service Jacksonville office, the heat advisory will remain in effect from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged outdoor activities, and never leave children or pets in parked vehicles. Thunderstorms are also expected to develop in the afternoon, with rain chances reaching 40% in Jacksonville.

The extreme heat and potential for scattered thunderstorms may cause hazardous conditions, especially for vulnerable populations. Cooling centers may open across the region to help those in need of relief from the oppressive heat. Temperatures are expected to remain high through mid-week, with Sunday through Tuesday seeing highs around 93 degrees before a slight increase on Wednesday.
