Oklahoma City, OK – A severe heat wave continues to scorch Oklahoma as temperatures reach dangerous levels, prompting a heat advisory across the state. The National Weather Service in Norman has reported that several areas, including Enid and Lawton, are experiencing heat indices over 110 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, Sunday’s heat indices are expected to peak between 105 and 110 degrees in many parts of the state, despite slightly cooler temperatures than yesterday. Cities such as Ponca City, Stillwater, and Oklahoma City will see temperatures soar past 105 degrees.

The heat advisory, in effect from noon until 9 p.m., warns residents to take precautions against heat-related illnesses. Staying hydrated, avoiding strenuous outdoor activities, and seeking air-conditioned environments are essential to staying safe during this extreme heat.
