Dallas, TX – Cooler weather is in place across North Texas today, but a significant shift is expected midweek as heavy rain and thunderstorms approach the region.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Tuesday will remain calm with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 60 degrees. However, starting Wednesday, widespread showers and storms will move into the area, increasing in intensity by Wednesday night and into Thursday. Rainfall totals between 1 to 3 inches are likely, with isolated amounts exceeding 4 inches.
The NWS has issued a warning for isolated flooding and the potential for severe storms, particularly on Thursday. Threats include damaging winds, large hail, and the possibility of localized tornadoes in parts of Central Texas. Drivers along major roadways, including I-35 and I-30, should stay alert for hazardous travel conditions.
Residents are advised to monitor weather updates, ensure emergency plans are in place, and have multiple ways to receive alerts. Calm and sunny conditions are expected to return by Friday, offering some relief after the midweek storms.
