Fort Worth, TX — North Texas is currently enduring a dangerous heat wave with temperatures expected to soar as high as 110°F. The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning, which remains in effect through 9 p.m. this evening. The heat index values, accounting for humidity, are expected to reach between 104°F and 111°F across the region.
The sweltering conditions are expected to persist throughout the week, although a weak cold front might bring slight relief by Tuesday. Areas east of Interstate 35 may see slightly cooler temperatures by mid-week, though highs will still remain in the upper 90s. Unfortunately, this cool down may be offset by increased humidity, keeping the heat index at dangerous levels.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, including staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and ensuring pets and children are not left in vehicles. Temperatures are forecasted to remain near or above 100°F for the rest of the week, with no significant chances of rain.
