Corpus Christi, TX – A Red Flag Warning is in effect for much of South Texas, including Goliad and surrounding counties, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday due to critical fire weather conditions. A Fire Weather Watch will follow on Saturday, extending the risk.

According to the National Weather Service, a dryline moving through the region Friday afternoon will bring extremely low humidity and high temperatures, increasing fire dangers. Winds from the west are expected to reach 15-25 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph, while humidity could drop as low as 14 percent. On Saturday, conditions will worsen with even drier air and gusts up to 35 mph.

Temperatures will soar to 93 degrees on Friday and could reach 99 degrees in some areas Saturday. The affected regions include Goliad, La Salle, McMullen, Live Oak, Bee, Webb, Duval, Jim Wells, and inland areas of Kleberg, Nueces, and San Patricio counties.

Officials warn that any fires that ignite could spread rapidly. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning and report wildfires immediately. Authorities recommend extreme caution with equipment that may spark fires and to properly dispose of cigarettes.

Residents should stay updated on weather alerts and prepare for heightened fire risks through the weekend.
