Hamburg, Germany – A couple was quarantined at Hamburg Central Station after displaying symptoms of the Marburg virus, a deadly disease with a 90% fatality rate. The potential outbreak prompted authorities to evacuate hundreds of passengers from the German train station, fearing widespread exposure.

The pair, including a 26-year-old medical student, had recently returned from Rwanda, where they had contact with a confirmed Marburg virus patient. Marburg is a highly contagious Ebola-like virus on the World Health Organization’s top watchlist due to its pandemic potential and high mortality rate.

Officials immediately shut down two platforms at the busy train station. Emergency personnel in full protective gear secured the area, fearing that the virus could spread rapidly among passengers. Marburg transmits through bodily fluids and causes severe hemorrhagic fever, which can kill within days.

The station has since reopened, but health officials are on high alert. Investigations are ongoing, and further updates are expected as authorities respond to the threat.
