Countryside, IL – A suspicious encounter took place near LaGrange Highlands Middle School on Thursday afternoon, when a student was approached by a man attempting to lure the child into his vehicle. The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. on May 8, 2025, near the intersection of Plainfield Road and Willow Springs Road, a short distance from the school.
According to the Countryside Police Department, the male driver of a vehicle, described as a Chevrolet or GMC work van with no markings, reportedly tried to entice the student with candy. The child was unharmed, quickly ran away, and immediately informed family members about the incident.
Police have increased patrols in the area as a precaution and are encouraging anyone with information about the vehicle or the individual to contact the department. They also urged parents and guardians to remind children about the importance of safety and reporting any suspicious activity to an adult or the police.
The Countryside Police Department is actively investigating the incident and continues to prioritize the safety of the community, especially around local schools.
