Corpus Christi, Texas – South Texas is heading into another prolonged stretch of intense summer heat, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the triple digits across much of the Coastal Bend and Brush Country through early next week. Rain chances remain limited, with only a slight opportunity for a few showers and thunderstorms on Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, mostly clear to partly cloudy skies will dominate the forecast through at least Tuesday. High temperatures will reach 90 to 106 degrees Friday, with overnight lows between 75 and 81 degrees. Communities farther inland, including Cotulla, Tilden, Freer, and Alice, will experience the hottest conditions, while Corpus Christi, Rockport, Port Aransas, and Port Lavaca remain somewhat cooler because of the Gulf breeze.
Saturday will be even hotter in some locations, with highs ranging from 92 to 106 degrees and overnight lows between 77 and 82 degrees. On Sunday, temperatures remain hot at 92 to 103 degrees, accompanied by a 15 to 25 percent chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms. Little to no rainfall is expected outside of those isolated storms.
Highs ease only slightly Monday and Tuesday, reaching 91 to 102 degrees Monday and 90 to 102 degrees Tuesday, with warm overnight lows continuing in the mid-70s to lower 80s.
Residents should stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the afternoon, wear lightweight clothing, and never leave children or pets in parked vehicles. While rain chances remain low, the persistent heat will continue to pose the greatest weather concern across South Texas into early next week.
