Corpus Christi, TX – A flash flood warning remains in effect until 3:30 p.m. Monday for central Nueces County, including Corpus Christi, as heavy thunderstorms continue to impact the area.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, Doppler radar detected storms producing significant rainfall across the region. Up to 3 inches of rain have already fallen, with an additional inch possible this afternoon. Officials warn flash flooding is either ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
The NWS stated that flash flooding may affect small creeks, urban streets, highways, underpasses, and other low-lying areas. Locations most at risk include downtown Corpus Christi, Corpus Christi International Airport, Del Mar College campuses, Cole Park, and North Beach.
Authorities caution drivers to avoid flooded roadways. “Turn around, don’t drown,” the NWS reminded, noting that most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles. Residents are urged to monitor local conditions and use extra caution while traveling.
