Chicago, IL – Three people were arrested after nearly $4,000 in athleticwear was allegedly stolen from a West Loop retail store Wednesday morning, following a brief vehicle pursuit and foot search through nearby alleys.

According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, Organized Retail Crime officers working with Lululemon were notified around 10:20 a.m. that two women had taken merchandise from the store in the 900 block of West Randolph Street and left the area in a Mazda CX-5.

Authorities say officers attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle allegedly sped away. Witnesses later told police the SUV was seen abandoned in an alley in the 200 block of North Peoria Street, where officers found the unoccupied vehicle with stolen Lululemon merchandise reportedly visible inside.

Officers canvassed the surrounding area and located Jadea Seals, 20, near a dumpster in an alley in the 200 block of North Green Street, according to the sheriff’s office. Investigators then found Tekiah White, 20, and Tyshun Williams, 22, allegedly hiding inside a dumpster nearby. All three were taken into custody without reported injuries.

Seals and White were each charged with felony retail theft, authorities said. White was also processed on multiple outstanding warrants from Cook, DuPage, and McHenry counties. Williams was processed on warrants from Cook County and DuPage County.

The sheriff’s office confirmed the recovered merchandise was returned to the retailer.

Following initial court appearances at the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse, Seals and White were ordered released on the new charges. White, however, remains in custody due to outstanding warrants, as does Williams.

Authorities emphasized that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
