Orland Park, IL – A stolen luxury vehicle investigation led to the arrest of a 31-year-old man after police recovered a Rolls-Royce parked at a south suburban restaurant late last week.
According to Orland Park police, officers arrested Husamuldeen Abed, 31, on Friday, January 31, after locating a stolen 2023 Rolls-Royce in the parking lot of Papa Joe’s. The vehicle was parked and unoccupied and did not have license plates attached.
Police said a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) check confirmed the Rolls-Royce had been reported stolen out of Fort Bend County, Texas, on January 24. Officers established surveillance and waited for the driver to return.
Authorities said the suspect later returned to the parking lot, used keys to unlock and enter the vehicle, and was taken into custody without incident. Witnesses reportedly identified the man as the same individual who had earlier parked the vehicle at the location.
During the investigation, officers allegedly found Abed in possession of a stolen Illinois license plate registered to a 2006 Audi, along with hardware commonly used to attach plates to vehicles. Further investigation determined the Rolls-Royce had been stolen while in transit during shipment from Texas to North Carolina, police said.
Abed was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle, a Class 1 felony, and possession of stolen property, a Class A misdemeanor, according to police.
He was transported for an initial court appearance and later released. Court records show his next appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, February 3, at the Bridgeview Courthouse in Cook County.
