Chicago, IL – Illinois State Police (ISP) have arrested a 29-year-old Chicago man in connection with a road rage shooting on the Stevenson Expressway earlier this week.

According to ISP, the shooting occurred November 5, 2025, on I-55 northbound near California Avenue after a road rage incident between two drivers. Authorities say the suspect allegedly fired multiple shots at another vehicle, striking it several times. The victim was not injured and reported the incident later that day.

Following the report, ISP Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 Special Agents launched a rapid investigation and identified the suspect vehicle and driver within 24 hours. On November 6, 2025, agents located and arrested Bowen Zhang of Chicago without incident.

Zhang has been charged with one count of Attempted Murder (Class X felony) and one count of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 felony). The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the charges. Zhang is currently being held pending his first court appearance.

ISP officials said there is no ongoing threat to the public and no further information is available at this time.
