Cook County, IL – Sheriff’s Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying four people involved in a smash-and-grab burglary early Sunday in unincorporated Northfield Township.
According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, to a smoke shop in the 900 block of Greenwood Road after a security alarm was triggered. Officers found the store’s glass window shattered and several items missing.
Security footage showed four suspects dressed in dark clothing with their faces and hands covered. Investigators said the group allegedly used a brick to smash the window before taking the store’s cash drawer, the key to its van, and other merchandise.
One suspect allegedly drove away in the shop’s van, while the others fled in a gray Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. The stolen van was later found abandoned nearby, authorities said.
Sheriff’s Police are continuing to investigate and urge anyone with information to contact detectives at 708-865-4896.
