Columbus, OH – Central Ohio residents should prepare for a cold, frosty start to Friday morning. The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Frost Advisory for Delaware, Licking, Fairfield, and Hocking Counties, in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday.
According to forecasters, temperatures may drop as low as 36 degrees, allowing frost to form across much of the Columbus metro area and surrounding communities including Newark, Lancaster, Logan, and Pickerington.
The advisory warns that sensitive outdoor vegetation could be damaged or killed if left uncovered overnight. Residents are encouraged to bring potted plants indoors and cover gardens before midnight to prevent frost damage.
Skies are expected to remain mostly clear with light winds — conditions ideal for rapid cooling. Rural and low-lying areas are most likely to see widespread frost, while temperatures in the Columbus city core may remain slightly warmer.
The chill will be short-lived: highs are forecast to return to the upper 50s Friday afternoon, followed by another cool night before a gradual weekend warm-up.
