Grand Junction, CO – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for parts of western Colorado, with up to 9 inches of snow expected through 6 a.m. MDT Wednesday. Strong winds could lead to dangerous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, the advisory affects the Northwest San Juan Mountains, Southwest San Juan Mountains, and the Uncompahgre Plateau and Dallas Divide, including Telluride, Ouray, Silverton, and Ridgway. Snow accumulation between 4 and 9 inches is expected above 8,000 feet, with wind gusts up to 50 mph causing blowing and drifting snow.

Travel could become hazardous, with icy roads and reduced visibility under half a mile in some areas. Drivers are urged to slow down and exercise caution. Colorado’s 511 system provides updated road conditions for those traveling through the region.

Residents should prepare for delays and difficult conditions in higher elevations. The storm is expected to ease by early Wednesday morning, but lingering snow and wind could impact the morning commute.
