Colorado Winter Weather Advisory: Snowfall, Gusty Winds Impacting Mountain Areas Until Wednesday Morning

Grand Junction, CO – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for several Colorado mountain areas, with snow accumulation and gusty winds affecting travel through early Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service issued the advisory, warning of snow accumulations between 2 to 5 inches in the Elkhead and Park Mountains, as well as 1 to 3 inches above 8,000 feet in the Grand and Battlement Mesas. Additionally, areas including the Gore and Elk Mountains, Central Mountain Valleys, and the West Elk and Sawatch Mountains are expected to see snow accumulations between 2 to 4 inches. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph in these regions.

The hazardous weather conditions are expected to impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes, making travel difficult at times. Gusty winds may also lead to downed tree branches in higher elevations.

The advisory is in effect until 6 AM MDT on Wednesday, April 2. Drivers are urged to slow down and exercise caution while traveling, particularly in mountainous areas. For up-to-date road conditions, residents and travelers can dial 511 for state-specific information.
