Grand Junction, CO – A winter storm is bringing heavy snowfall and difficult travel conditions to parts of Colorado, with a Winter Storm Warning in effect until 5 AM MST Tuesday for the Elkhead and Park Mountains and the Flat Tops region.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, the Elkhead and Park Mountains could see an additional 4 to 6 inches of snow, while areas in the Flat Tops above 8,500 feet are expected to receive 3 to 5 more inches. Winds may also cause tree branches to fall, adding to potential hazards.
Travel is expected to be challenging, particularly during the Monday evening commute, with snow-covered roads and reduced visibility in affected areas.
Residents planning to travel should carry emergency supplies, including warm clothing, food, water, and a flashlight. For up-to-date road conditions, travelers can call 511 or check local transportation updates.
