Denver, CO – A major winter storm is set to bring hazardous travel conditions to the northern Colorado mountains through Monday. Rabbit Ears Pass and surrounding areas are expected to see heavy snowfall and winds up to 70 mph.

According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulation could reach 8–12 inches by Monday, with additional rounds expected overnight Sunday. Travel on snow-covered roads may become dangerous or even impossible. Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel and prepare emergency supplies if venturing out.

Forecasters anticipate periods of reduced visibility due to blowing snow, particularly Sunday night into Monday. The storm may also disrupt holiday travel plans leading up to New Year’s Day.

The next snow break is expected Sunday morning to early evening. Travelers should plan their routes around this window or delay trips entirely. For real-time updates, visit www.cotrip.org or dial 511 for Colorado road conditions.
