Pueblo, CO – Colorado’s mountain regions are facing hazardous conditions as winter weather continues to affect the area, with snow accumulations expected between 3 and 10 inches. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for multiple locations, including Lake County, Western Chaffee County, and the Eastern San Juan Mountains.

According to the National Weather Service, snow is expected to persist until 9 PM MDT Tuesday in Lake County and Western Chaffee County. In higher elevations, such as the Eastern Sawatch Mountains and Western Mosquito Range, snowfall will continue until 6 AM Wednesday. Winds are expected to gust up to 65 MPH, causing blowing snow and significantly reduced visibility.

Travel conditions across the affected areas are expected to be dangerous, with slick, snow-packed roads and poor visibility. Drivers are advised to slow down, use caution, and check road conditions by calling 511 before traveling. Snowfall accumulations in some regions may exceed 10 inches, further complicating travel.

Motorists should plan accordingly, as mountain passes such as Cumbres and Wolf Creek Pass may experience the worst of the winter storm.
