Denver, Colorado – Severe storms could snarl commutes and outdoor plans across the Denver metro Tuesday as a Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains active until 5 p.m. Gusty winds, small hail, and heavy downpours are possible — particularly for areas near I-70 and I-25, where storm activity is expected to peak between noon and 4 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, Tuesday’s storm coverage could reach 70%, with some cells turning severe quickly. Winds may gust up to 40 mph, especially in the northern suburbs. Travelers should allow extra time, avoid flooded roadways, and monitor weather apps closely throughout the day.

Relief comes fast. By Wednesday, skies turn sunny with a high near 86°F and calmer winds. Conditions will continue warming through Juneteenth, with Thursday’s high reaching 97°F and 102°F expected by Friday. Overnight temperatures will offer little cooldown, staying in the mid-60s.

Sunny, breezy conditions dominate the weekend, with highs in the upper 90s both Saturday and Sunday. The next storm chance returns Monday, offering a slight cooldown and possible late-day showers.

⚠️ Residents should stay weather-aware today, especially those in outdoor work or with holiday travel plans ahead of the heat surge.
